Barcelona, March 30, 2021. - IOMED and the Hospital del Mar de Barcelona have reached an agreement to implement the health data extraction and analysis technology of this company with the aim of improving the quality of care. The tool, designed by IOMED, which is a solution based on machine learning technology and Artificial Intelligence, will allow Hospital del Mar to transform the unstructured texts written by doctors and health professionals in the medical records of patients into coded and structured data.
With this volume of structured information, the hospital center will be able to categorize parameters and classify data in an agile way and in real time, allowing to significantly improve the quality of care for patients and accelerate investigations in the clinical field.
“The development of structured format databases for internal use will allow Hospital del Mar to improve health care, make reports, find patterns and use the information for clinical research purposes”, explains Javier de Oca, co-founder and CEO by IOMED.
Through this collaboration agreement, Hospital del Mar has obtained a free license for the IOMED software to work with the structured and coded database resulting from the processing of the different records. The ownership of the information, documents, and medical records of patients will be at all times in the hands of the hospital.
“Collaboration with IOMED allows us to have in a standardized and structured way the information from the medical history records so that we can improve our descriptive and predictive analytics and allows us to advance in the development of decision support tools ”, Says Jordi Martínez, Director of Innovation and Transformation of Hospital del Mar.
IOMED and the Hospital, in compliance with Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016, will guarantee at all times the anonymization and protection of the data processed.
