Palma de Mallorca, July 7, 2021. - The Hospital Universitario Son Espases (Palma de Mallorca) agrees to implement the IOMED’s technology for the analysis and extraction of health data. IOMED has developed a technology specialized in transforming Electronic Medical Records (EHR) into structured data for clinical research. This agreement will allow the hospital to increase the quality of healthcare provision and assistance thanks to this technology and participation in clinical research.

The tool developed by IOMED, based on Artificial Intelligence and machine learning technology, will allow the Hospital Universitario Son Espases to transform the information from the medical records that is unstructured (written in free text format by health professionals) into coded data and structured. Thanks to this process, it will be possible to greatly accelerate the research carried out in the clinical field and to maximize the results.

“The possibility of having structured format databases will allow professionals at the Hospital Universitario Son Espases to make internal use of these to improve healthcare, finding patterns and using this information for clinical research. Furthermore, this will not entail any cost for the hospital since the transfer of the license is done free of charge ”, explains Javier de Oca, co-founder and CEO of IOMED.

At all times, the Hospital Universitario Son Espases will be the only owner of the information, documents and medical records of patients.

The collaboration agreement between IOMED and Hospital Universitario Son Espases strictly complies with Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights and also with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016. In compliance with these regulations, all data is anonymized before being processed, resulting in protected and anonymous databases.
