Consorci Sanitari Integral reaches an agreement to install IOMED software that will allow its hospitals to facilitate access to clinical information
The technology developed by IOMED will make it possible to transform all clinical information into coded and structured databases that will facilitate access to data for research and improve the quality of healthcare.
Barcelona, September 28, 2021. - The Consorci Sanitari Integral (CSI) has decided to implement the technology developed by IOMED to facilitate its professionals and researchers the access to data for clinical research. This technology for the analysis and extraction of clinical data makes it possible to transform Electronic Health Records (EHR), which are in an unstructured format, into a coded database that facilitates hospital professionals and researchers the access to the data stored in the hospital.
IOMED software will structure the clinical information of the Consorci Sanitari Integral through Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing. This process will significantly accelerate clinical research and maximize results. The objective of the agreement is thus to increase the quality of healthcare provision and assistance and the participation in clinical research.
“ Thanks to these structured databases, professionals and researchers will be given access to all the clinical data stored in their hospital in order to accelerate clinical research processes, being able to find patterns and make reports more quickly. On the other hand, it will allow Consorci Sanitari Integral to improve health care ”, explains Javier de Oca, co-founder and CEO of IOMED.
“CSI is committed to transformation and improvement in care based on the analysis of information and quality research that can use all clinical information. We want to combine the use of innovative solutions with the guarantee of data security and privacy. We must take advantage of the potential provided by the analysis of clinical information that is in an unstructured format to carry out quality research studies, as well as analyze retrospective and predictive scenarios to respond to our needs and future challenges. In this sense, the IOMED solution is a solution that is aligned with this strategic line of CSI ”, comments Javier Grueso, director of Information Systems of the Consorci Sanitari Integral.
IOMED has granted a free license to Consorci Sanitari Integral to use the resulting structured database, being Consorci the sole manager of this. It will be the hospital the one that will maintain sole ownership of the documents, information, and medical records at all times.
Consorci Sanitari Integral and IOMED will prioritize at all times the protection of the privacy from the data processed, thus complying with Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights and the Regulation ( EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016. For this reason, the data will be totally anonymized before being processed, resulting in completely anonymized databases, and Consorci Sanitari Integral will maintain the single governance of the data.
